The city of Liverpool has seen some pretty memorable things when it comes to the beautiful game over the years and now, we re finally back to a point whereby Everton can be called a legitimate force to be reckoned with once again. On the flip side, it felt as if the same was true for Wolverhampton Wanderers after the last few seasons they ve had but both clubs have hit hard times as of late as we prepare to wind down the current Premier League campaign.

Dortmund record €43.9m loss due to COVID-19 crisis

Borussia Dortmund have recorded a €43.9million loss for the 2019-20 financial year, the Bundesliga club revealed on Monday.

The Dortmund board presented the results, explaining the deficit was due to the coronavirus pandemic that meant BVB played only 12 league matches at a capacity Signal Iduna Park this season.

The entire past decade has been very good, both athletically and economically, said chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke, with Dortmund making a €17.4m profit in the previous year.

In economic terms, we have always written black numbers in these years. Then coronavirus came.

Watzke warned the global crisis would continue to effect the club until supporters were allowed to return to matches.

We will only be in the black again if we have no…

Bayern Munich set to sign Raphael Guerreiro

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Raphael Guerreiro over a free transfer from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 63-cap Portugal international spent seven years at the Signal Iduna Park, and with his contract expiring at the end of the month, he has decided to switch his allegiance to the reigning Bundesliga champions. The 29-year-old was previously linked with Atletico Madrid.

Though primarily a left-back, Guerreiro played in recent games as a central midfielder, and it remains to be seen what Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel has in mind for him.

Borussia Dortmund 4 Stuttgart 1: Aubameyang double hands Kramny a losing start

Borussia Dortmund bounced back from two consecutive defeats to claim a 4-1 win over Bundesliga strugglers Stuttgart, as Jurgen Kramny s tenure as caretaker manager started with a loss.

Stuttgart dispensed with Alexander Zorniger following the 4-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Augsburg last week, but Kramny saw his team make a bad start when Gonzalo Castro s first Bundesliga goal for BVB gave the hosts a third-minute lead.

The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder then played a key part in Dortmund s second, laying off the ball smartly to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who made no mistake with an expertly dinked-finish.

Aubameyang saw a goal chalked-off as Dortmund began to run riot, though Stuttgart did get themselves back in contention courtesy of Daniel Didavi s fi…

SAFA deny Keshi reports

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has not signed a deal to become South Africa s new boss, the South African Football Association (SAFA) insist.

Reports in Nigeria claimed that Keshi, who has been in the job since 2011 and won the Africa Cup of Nations last year, had agreed terms to take over South Africa after the FIFA World Cup.

The SAFA rejected that claim in a statement released on Tuesday but did add that an appointment would be made following the tournament in Brazil.

That article is devoid of any truth as SAFA will only make the decision on the appointment of the new coach mid-July, said SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan in the statement.

Keshi s name is among the various names that have been thrown around by the media. SAFA has not yet arrived at any de…

Real Madrid star Isco: Atletico desperate to beat us

Isco says Atletico Madrid are even more desperate to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals because of the recent history between the sides.

Madrid have knocked city rivals Atletico out of the tournament in each of the last three seasons, two of those victories coming in the final.

In-form Isco is eyeing what would be his third European Cup success but knows Diego Simeone s side represent a significant obstacle to achieving that goal, particularly with their enhanced motivation.

Atletico are a very difficult team and the two-legged matches make it even more difficult, the attacking midfielder said to Codere Apuestas.

I have been in Madrid for four years and in each of the four we have faced them in the Champions League.

Dybala will have to leave Juventus to improve, claims Alves

Dani Alves has told Paulo Dybala he will have to leave Juventus in order to reach his full potential.

Argentina international Dybala has been tipped as Lionel Messi s heir, a claim that gained more weight when he hit a double in Juve s 3-0 Champions League quarter-final first-leg win over Barcelona.

The 23-year-old has been persistently linked with a move to Camp Nou, as well as LaLiga champions Real Madrid, and Juve team-mate Alves believes such a transfer is required for him to improve.

La Joya [Dybala s nickname] will bear fruit, Alves said in an interview on Esporte Interativo.

We have spoken many times and I told him that one day, I do not know when, he will have to leave Juventus to improve even more.

Joselu fires Spain to Nations League final with late winner against Italy

Joselu came off the bench to grab a late winner as Spain snatched a place in the Nations League final with a 2-1 win over Italy in Enschede.

The former Newcastle forward pounced two minutes from the end of a tight encounter on Thursday after a shot from Manchester City’s Champions League final match-winner Rodri was deflected into his path.

Spain had taken a third-minute lead through Yeremy Pino but Italy soon levelled with a penalty from Ciro Immobile.
