Liverpool are interested in bringing in Renato Sanches from Lille OSC as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, according to French outlet Le10Sport.
Sanches went through the ranks of the academy at Benfica, and earned his first-team promotion in 2015. Less than a year later, he was sold to Bayern Munich as an exciting young talent for a reported fee of €35 million, but he never made significant impact for the Bundesliga champions. He spent 2017/18 on loan at Swansea and returned for his final season at the Allianz Arena, after which he was sold to Lille for €20 million. This season the 23-year-old has made 10 appearances for the Ligue 1 side in all competitions, scoring once from his position in central midfield.
Lille are reportedly in a very difficult situation financially and would be willing to sell for the right price.
Meanwhile, Wijnaldum s contract with Liverpool is about to expire at the end of the season, and there s still no news of him signing a new one. His contribution to the successes the Merseysiders have had under Jurgen Klopp has been immeasurable and both the club and the manager would surely like to keep him, but it could be that the 29-year-old has the idea of testing himself in another league on his mind.
